Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education initiative supported by Healthy Ireland, and part of the National Physical Activity Plan.
The ASF initiative provides schools with a framework to guide, support and incentivize them to work towards achieving a physically educated and physically active school community.

The Convent primary school pupils are currently engaging in the Active Schools process. An active schools committee was set up to foster and promote a sense of an active school community. Our committee members were asked to submit a written or picture format application stating ‘why they would like to be part of the active school committee and any ideas they have on making our school more active’.
Priority strand:
This year we prioritized the games strand. We are focusing on learning how to use the playground markings correctly and playing yard games. This has encouraged all our pupils to play together on the yard and stay active during break times. One hour per week is allocated to our senior pupils working with our younger pupils on the yard during break times as playground leaders.
