The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary schools and other organisations to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being with the aim of working together toward a happier, healthier Ireland and eradicating the stigmas associated with mental health issues. We were delighted to receive our 1st Amber Flag in June 2022 following a year-long, school-wide programme achieving the goals set out by the Amber Flag Committee, following consultation with our school community. We were delighted with the feedback received from the Pieta Amber Flag Team -“Your Amber Flag Committee has shown great commitment in promoting positive mental health by encouraging teamwork and contributions from peers.” Congratulations to the whole school community including Student and Adult members of the HP & Wellbeing Committees.
This school year (2022-2023), we are working towards achieving our 2nd Amber Flag.
Our goals are as follows:
1. Host a “Mental Health Awareness” Week
2. Host a fundraising event for Pieta
3. Host an “Anti-Bullying” Week
4. Provide opportunities for pupils to “buddy” up outside of class groupings
5. Host a Multi-Cultural Celebration in our school.
Members of the Adult and Pupil HP & Wellbeing Committees will guide us towards achieving our goals. Updates will be posted here, on our school App and on our social media platforms.
We wish to thank everyone who donated to Pieta and dressed up for Halloween. As a school, we raised 370.00 euro. Well done everyone. Our donation will help those in need of the vital services provided by Pieta.
